Portable, or auto-start, what type of generator system is right for you?
They both can supply power to your home during an outage but have a number of different features. Understanding the differences allows you to choose the option that best suits your needs.

A 300 watt portable generator is approximately the size of a microwave oven and will run 3 x 100 watt light bulbs, or one 100 watt light bulb and a radio. A 7,500 watt generator (portable or permanent) is the size of a small lawn tractor and can run the BASIC Emergency necessities of a home.
Proper sizing is critical to ensure that you get a correctly sized generator unit to meet your needs and design a site plan that is most cost effective for your project.

I just had to write a letter of extreme gratitude. Aside from being one of the nicest, most pleasant people I have ever met, you and every single person on your staff have been nothing but professional, punctual and incredibly knowledgeable.
I feel most fortunate to have your company to install my generator. In this day and age when one only seems to hear horror stories about botched nightmares dealing with supposed established contracting companies, it is refreshing to have dealt with your company from start to finish. Not only did the generator installation proceed smoothly and exactly on time, you worked around our schedule with total respect for my disability and didn’t complain one iota about my dogs who barked constantly.
I must give special kudos to chad who did additional work, installing light fixtures, fans and sensor lights.
Especially when we ran into a few glitches as you guarantee for complete satisfaction states, you stepped up, went out of your way to make sure I was completely happy with every single thing that was done. And that says something very rare in your industry. You stand behind your word, verbal and written. You are definitely my go to “guy if I need anything electrical, plumbing and everything in between.
From the huge installment of the generator to the installation of the phone jack, all work was done promptly and with obvious expertise. I also want to thank you for making me laugh on those days that I was having a very bad day. You have such a phenomenal personality, always smiling and reassuring, but most of all giving me the peace of mind, knowing that each and every job, big or small, would be completed accurately and on time.
I have told everyone I know what a wonderful experience it has been hiring The Shock Doctors. I actually miss you and your staff. You are like one big family, smiling, laughing all the while working professionally and diligently. I t was such a pleasure and I look forward to calling you the next time I need any work done.
Now I know why you call yourselves The Shock Doctors. Anyone would be shocked at how happy they were to have hired you. It would give me much pleasure to be a reference, should you ever need one. Wishing you and you staff all the best. Until next time.
Sincerely L. Gancwol (Lafountaine)
